February 24, 2014

We are really excited for what lies ahead this week! Lots of training meetings and work to be done! We were able to help with the yard work at the temple today. They are doing all new landscape so we helped tear it up. The temple president also gave an amazing talk yesterday in sacrament. He told of a recent story of a man calling that he needed the work done for his family in 3 days. President Puente had a short amount of time to get the fh work done, baptism and confirmations and the initiatories. He said why do members of the church do this to me. haha But he got it completed and was ready for the endowment for the man to do it. The reason the man was so urgent to get the work done was because he passed away a week later. President Puente was so grateful that he was able to help this man out. The temple is so special and something that we take for granted at times. Not only the temple but the work we do in our own lives to get there and the work we take to be done in the temple. This story really touched my heart.

I hope you have a great week!

February 10th, 2014

Not only was it a great day but a great week. We are so blessed in this area. Things are progressing day-by-day and week-by-week. We were able to attend the temple on Wednesday and I know we were blessed for going. Loved the new video so much! It is what I needed. Saturday I was on exchanges with Sister McCleary in her area. So it was really fun to be there for the day. My companion Sister Bohannon planned a surprise lunch for Mr. T. at his favorite place, Chipotle. That was really sweet of her to get all the sisters together for lunch. President and Sister Young called that morning to wish me a happy birthday and told Sister McCleary to call our dinner appointment and tell them that it was my birthday. So we get to the dinner appointment and they had a wonderful dinner prepared and a cake made with ice cream and sang. It was really sweet of them. What made it the best birthday ever was that I am a missionary and was able to share the gospel and help bring happiness to others. I know I will always remember my 20th birthday. It was something really special.
I have been blessed along with 17 other missionaries to be trained on how to use iPads to further the work; to be more efficient and productive. Really fulfilling our purpose. So today sister Lesuser and I are in Eugene for that training. I am actually typing on my iPad right now... A lot of us are sitting in the chapel emailing Haha it is crazy! But really exciting the Lord has trusted us with this tool.
I hope you have a great week. We too fasted for rain and snow and The Lord is answering our prayers. It has been raining and in Eugene to Portland area it snowed 12 inches. It is amazing what a simple prayer can really do. Hope you have a chance to go to the temple soon.

Love you :)

FEBUARY 3, 2014

Family and Friends!!
The weeks keep flying by!! Isn't time a precious thing? The little moments are what matters most. So grateful for the time I have been given on my mission so far. I love it!
"Come seek us where our voices sound
This cowgirls heart will rapid pound
While you are searching remember this
an event like this you can not miss!
To the commitment we gave she said yes
and her choice will bring forever bliss
All this happens in the month next
which is why we send this text...
                                   The day is 11 twice..
                               Isn't that just really nice?"
This week we set a baptism date on Wednesday!!! This cowgirl's name is Janette! She was first introduced to the gospel two years ago. So we are not her first set of missionaries... but we are her first set of Sister missionaries :) She tells us that is what she needed. She is so grateful President Monson sent out the girls!  Those are the moments I can't contain from smiling!! It brings my soul so much joy when one of our Heavenly Father's children excepts the invitation to follow Jesus Christ. Beautiful moments. That is what missionary work is all about. Bringing His children back to Him. Helping them go to the temple, where they can be sealed to their families for all eternity! So grateful for the blessings of the temple! I love you all!!
Love,

JANUARY 13, 2014

Family and Friends!!
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! So excited for this coming year! I know great things are ahead!
I wanted to share some of my thoughts and feelings about missionary work. As missionaries we have been given the privilege to use Facebook to further the Lord's work and the members have the privilege too. President Henry B. Eyring gives an amazing talk called 'We Are One'. He says, "I pray that wherever we are and whatever duties we have in the priesthood of God, we will be united in the cause to bring the gospel to all the world and that we will encourage people we love to be cleansed from sin and to be happy with us in the kingdom of God.. and in it he quotes President McKay: "Throw the responsibility upon every member of the Church that in the coming year of 1923 (2014) every member will be a missionary. Every member a missionary! You may bring your mother in the Church, or it may be your father; perhaps your fellow companion in the workshop. Somebody will hear the good message of the truth through you." And President McKay continued: "And that is the message today.EVERY member-a million and a half- a missionary!"
What is a missionary? A missionary is one who shares the gospel by WORD and by EXAMPLE. Lets be who we are all called to be! We are all in this work together! We have been given so many ways to share the gospel. One of them being Facebook and other online tools. So lets use them for what they were invented to be used for. The work is hastening but are we? Now is the time to be member missionaries. If we want different results we have to do things differently. Whether that is sharing the gospel more by word or example or both. We as missionaries would love the support from all of you liking, sharing, or commenting on my posts and other missionaries posts even if you don't like them haha. I know that Heavenly Father is going to bless us as we help share the gospel. I know we are ONE in the work. ONE with our Savior. He stands with us always, may we stand with Him as well. Let your friends and family hear the good message from YOU! I love you all!! And so grateful for all the love and the support!

JANUARY 6, 2014

We had a great week and a great new years day! We were able to watch a movie, which i didn't ke. It was so weird. It made me not want to back into the world... ever. ha the video we watched had some bad things in it for little kids. I was shocked! What message are they trying to get across? We were able to play some softball later! It was so nice to be able to run, throw and hit again. We also played dodge ball and ultimate lightning as a zone! So much fun! And we were able to meet this Less active lady that worked at Target. Also we got a flat tire on the way to the movie. pretty funny ha

Well the rest of the week was great! Tonight I will be leaving to Eugene with Sister Savage and LeSuer. We have mlc tomorrow! Really excited for that!! Hope you have a great week! You should check out this mormon message "Lifting Burdens" Through His Atonement we can change and be lifted from our burdens!! Love you so much mom! Tell everyone at home I love them as well!!
